CAP Rounds in Maharshtra to begin from June 7
June 06, 2013

Admissions for B.E courses in Engineering Colleges of Maharashtra via Centralised Admission Process (CAP), conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), for the academic year 2013-14 will begin from June 7.

MT CET results were announced on early morning of June 5. Reports suggest that students who have scored in the range of 140 to 160 are compartively lesser than previous year (2012-13) and the trend continues till the score of 100. If reports are to be believed, chances are high that the cutoffs might take a dip by around 5 to 8 marks as compared to last year.

Engineering admissions in Maharashtra are conducted via CAP Rounds which takes care of the MT CET score and the JEE Main score (earlier AIEEE). While all the colleges participate in CAP (except DJ Sanghvi, Vile Parle, Mumbai), there are several colleges which offer admissions under Institute Quota and/or Religious/Linguistic Minority Quota. Students should check respective college website if they are looking for admissions based on the same.

This year, admissions via CAP Rounds will be exactly the same like last year (2 normal rounds and 3rd Round in Aurangabad). Online Application Form will be available at Application Receipt Centres (ARCs) or anywhere else from the website from June 7 to June 13.

Here's the entire flow of Admission Process:

MT CET 2013 Results DECLARED

MT CET 2013 was a Cakewalk: Students
May 16, 2013

Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (CET) 2013 - conducted for admissions in Engineering and Pharmacy courses in Maharashtra - was pretty simple as compared to the last two years.

Over 2 lakh students who took the entrance test for a seat in Engineering Colleges in Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, etc. seemed relaxed after appearing for the paper.

As usual, Physics section dominated with its tricky questions which outsmarted many students. "I found the Physics section lengthy. Though I was acquainted with all the type of questions, it took a lot of time to solve many of them", said Dhruv to the Stupidsid Reporter. "Chemistry was certainly simpler while Mathematics was the simplest", he continued.

Since MHT CET's inception in 2004, Mathematics section has always been the saviour. Most of the questions are repeated from the previous years paper which escalates the score, thus ensuring a higher overall score.

Moksh Rathod, an IIT aspirant who has already qualified the JEE Mains sections, told Stupidsid, "A couple of questions in Maths were tricky but other than that the section was very simple. I was not very comfortable solving Physics as I found it too lengthy. I am expecting to score over 170 and would love to study my engineering from the prestigious VJTI if I don't make it to the IITs and/or NITs.

Surprisingly, none of the sections had any errors though there were rumours outside many centres in Mumbai that Chemistry had 2 erroneous questions.

Aditya, who has already secured a seat at the popular SRM University in Chennai was very unhappy with his performance. "I had planned to study my engineering from College of Engineering, Pune but I am not expecting more than 120. Cutoffs for COEP are pretty high and I am certain I won't be able to make it there. I've appeared for Symbiosis Entrance Test and hope to crack it"

In a nutshell, the MT CET paper has maintained its legacy of simpler sections than other entrance tests. While it is too early to comment but experts believe that the overall cutoff will increase by 5 to 8 marks as compared to the previous years.

MT CET 2013 Results will be decalred on June 5.

MHT CET 2013 on May 16 says DTE
December 10, 2012

Probably the last MHT CET (or MT CET as it is now known as) will be held on 16th May, 2013. Admissions of engineering colleges in Maharasthra are based on the Maharashtra Technology Common Entrance Test (MT CET) and all engineering aspirants will have to appear for this test.

MHT CET to rule 2013 Engineering Admissions in Maharashtra
September 10, 2012

Thousands of Engineering aspirants in Maharashtra just got relieved from the "GREAT CONFUSION" they had been facing ever since the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) announced the common entrance test for admissions into all kinds of engineering courses all over the country. Maharashtra State authorities have decided to continue with MH CET, at least for the 2013-14 admission season.

A common entrance test (called Joint Entrance Exam - JEE) was introduced earlier this year and was supposed to be the only entrance test for Engineering Admissions all over India including the IITs and NITs. The students were left in a state of turmoil as there was no clarity whether this nationwide test would be implemented for the 2013-14 admissions or not. When Maharasthra State authorities declared that they were not going ahead with the JEE this year and admissions would be conducted based on the usual Maharashtra CET scores, students were relieved. The decision was taken considering the students' convenience as nearly half the academic year has already passed and a new exam would only increase the pressure on the students.

The final decision is still pending, but it is very unlikely that the MH CET will be scrapped this year. However, the state has agreed to implement the JEE from the academic year 2014-15.
